Since our founding in 1998,
our unwavering dedication has been to foster sustainable socio-economic transformation in the lives of rural women throughout India.

Over the years, ASMII has touched the lives of lakhs of women and girls across India, empowering them to break free from the cycle of poverty and inequality. Through our programs in education, healthcare, vocational training, and entrepreneurship development, we have seen firsthand the transformative power of empowerment.

Our Beginning

ASMII not-for-profit organisation was founded in affiliation with the All India Women’s Conference as a rural branch, aiming to empower and elevate women & girls.

ASMII registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

Outreach

Outreached 20000 rural women and 50 village communities through 100 Awareness Campaigns on Environmental Conservation, Education, Social Equality, and Skill Development

Herbal Garden Impact

 Improved the Healthcare of 4000 villagers through 5 Self-Help Groups. Rural women earned up to Rs. 60,000 p.a. with the plantation of 8000 Medicinal plants and the development of Nurseries.

Say “No to Plastic” Campaign

Impacted 8000 rural women through several Vocational training centres and improved their Livelihood by upto Rs. 1,50,000 p.a. also contributing to the nationwide “Say No to Plastic” campaign.

“Back-to-School” Initiative

6800+ girls enrolled in Mewat region, and Capacity Building programs for 1000 teachers that sensitized the communities under the ‘Back-to-school’ program.

Awareness Campaign

In collaboration with Central Social Welfare Board impacted 200 women in 4 villages through a 10-day power-packed Awareness Campaign covering 20 women-related topics.

250 Self-Help Groups formed with up to 1 crore savings leading to 3000 women’s Financial stability

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, strengthened Healthcare service for 13500 rural women & girls improving their well-being and family’s quality of life.

(DFIVP) Digital Financial Integrated Vocational Program: Post-COVID empowered 450 women & girls through Vocational training and bridge the Digital divide with Digital & Financial literacy, fostered sustainable Livelihoods for rural women in the Digital economy.

Smt. Shobha Lal

A dedicated advocate with over four decades of commitment to empowering women physically, emotionally, and financially. Despite facing numerous obstacles, from societal norms to personal hardships, she remains an unwavering force for the empowerment and economic upliftment of rural women. Her arsenal includes awareness campaigns, counseling, vocational training, government schemes, and the formation of self-help groups. Her inspiring mission has earned her prestigious awards, including the Jijabai Award, Dr. Sushila Nayyar Award, and Life Achievement Award, among others, as well as a UN invitation. 

As the founder of ASMII, her life’s work is dedicated to creating a more equitable world for women.

Governing founding member

Smt. Sharda Devi

From a courageous farming family, Sharda embodies resilience and empowerment. She not only manages her household but also oversees the entire farming process, from sowing to harvesting, utilizing the family tractor. With a profound understanding of government schemes for women’s empowerment in Mewat, she has been pivotal in their implementation. Sharda has established self-help groups, collaborated with district administration, and spearheaded income-generation initiatives for women. Since 2005, she has been the driving force behind ASMII’s awareness programs, extending her influence beyond her village. Through her extensive travels and confident representation at women empowerment conferences, Sharda continues to inspire others with her journey from grassroots to ASMII stalwart, epitomizing the essence of empowerment.
